Several days after I got a package Amazon emailed me and said it was lost

...I wouldn't do the unethical thing, but I'm really tempted to "win" $25 by claiming it never arrived after all. Really tempted.

(Not doing the wrong thing kinda sucks sometimes. I bet lots of awful people sleep well at night regardless.)

I'd do it if I were sure I wouldn't get found out, lol. Amazon's always scamming people anyway, their prices are higher than they should be and their shipping is waaaay higher than it should be, and there's that thing with Kindle ebooks being removed from people's devices without warning... they do stuff like claim if you sign up for Amazon Prime you'll get free movies or whatever and then when I did that, oops, suddenly that's only valid if your computer's in the same country as what your credit card is from. Sigh. I have a bigger beef with Ebay though (American Ebay's "global shipping" scam and stuff like that).

Annoying, yes, but not actually Amazon's fault here. Blame the media companies for region issues.
