They said this season was lighter and fluffier and yes, they are definitely hitting the light-hearted comedic notes (which is odd given how horrific the murder of the asshole-of-the-week was. Bounced around in an elevator...!)
Buuuuuuuuut on the flip side, Barry's time in the speedforce has done absolutely nothing to improve his personality. He's still a controlling jerk. "Oh, I completely speed-resolved all our wedding preparations without stopping for your input! Oh, I know what we'll do for dinner tonight, and yes we have time to eat out because I canceled your standing plans! Because I'm back, so who needs your training anymore?"
He may be a great superhero, but I wouldn't want to date him, and I sure wouldn't want to marry him.
At least it looks like the writers finally realize how problematic his behavior is, because if this doesn't get resolved, and fast, I'm giving up forever. (Go ahead and spoil me: Does anybody confront him about this? Does it stick!?)
Edit: Meh. She ended up flipping out over him ditching her for the speedforce to save whatever. Which is fair, but now he's gonna think that's the issue and in fact, his fatalistic decision was the symptom. And it's got nothing to do with now they're engaged, and everything to do with how being super speedy does not make you qualified to make all the decisions. No, it doesn't. No, it really doesn't. Nope, not even if you're also pretty smart. He shouldn't be willing to accept her help because he's in love, or the help of the rest of the team because they're buddies, he should be doing it because doing it on his own is a bad idea and always has been, and whoever told him it was right (probably Joe) should be severely scolded. And realistically, until he addresses the bigger issue of his completely unethical, unsustainable, and frankly ill-advised approach to major decisions, he's going to keep doing the same stupid shit.
