Took Sweetheart to the van.

A 4:30 am wakeup, a 75 minute wait in the freezing cold, a long trip back in the afternoon... all to be told that when they sedated her, they found she was already fixed!

They clipped her ear for me. Nobody will ever make this mistake again with this cat. I was going to start right away looking for homes once she was fixed, but I'll wait a day or two. This raises the odds slightly that she really does have a home and a family that loves her and takes care of her. If so, they'll see her clipped ear and shove a collar on her or something. I really doubt this is the case - all my neighbors swear they have no idea where she came from, and I've seen her hanging out on our porch very close to 24/7. But it's dimly possible.

Whoooops! As a positive, no need to worry about surprise!kittens, and for Sweetheart, no dealing with surprise!kittens.

Poor sweet fuzzy probably did have a family at one point. I wonder if maybe her first person passed, and she lost a home that way?

Please pass along some cuddles to Ms. Random Tortie?

Yeah, I was wondering if she had a home and no longer does. We have a lot of animals dumped around here.

That happened when I adopted a female rough coated collie once. Poor dog.

Already fixed! Wow. I do hope that you can find her a good home. Maybe her family is far away?

Sounds like my stray tortie, except the vet was able to find the scar so there wasn't the needless anesthesia. Mine clearly had been somebody's cat, but after she wore a collar with "owner: call (my number)" on it around for a week with no response (and no matching missing-cat reports at the shelters), I adopted her. She'd spent all summer sunning herself in my yard without letting me get close, and then when it got cold she walked onto my porch and demanded attention. Petting her was my first sign that she wasn't going home somewhere at night -- or if she was, they weren't feeding her enough. Skin and bones under the floofy coat and mats.
