And I do like taking the bus because we pass by the most delightful old-school store signs you're ever likely to see. They don't make signs like that anymore, and nearly everybody who is still around who ever had a sign like that has "updated".

I did for many years. Kept the name because I like it. ;-) (And the Andy Warhol associations.)

"Ban PowerPoint from lectures" i an attempt to force a technological solution on a non-technological problem. In art history, we find PowerPoint to be invaluable. It's a hell of a lot easier to discuss a painting with a slide of it projected on the wall behind you than it is if you're relying on everyone's memory of the painting (if they've very seen that particular painting at all). Yes, I've sat through some crummy PowerPoint presentations, but I've also sat through some that inspired, educated, and entertained me all at one. As with any other technology, there are people who use PowerPoint well and people who use it poorly. Rather than banning PowerPoint from his program, Professor Sørensen would be better off teaching his students (and fellow professors) to use it well, because it's not going away.

That's true. On the other hand, I've had professors who did just fine in lecturing poorly without PowerPoint.
