Kitten is now in my house, temporarily

Unfortunately, she'd developed a bad limp - appears to be both legs on one side - and this seemed sufficiently worrisome to both of us that taking her inside seemed like the best bet. She also appears to have scabbing on her nape. I'm going to take a good look later and determine whether she needs to go to a vet now, or if it can wait until next weekend when I take her to the van to get fixed. The latter option is MUCH cheaper, but they won't do it anyway if she's actually sick or injured. And, you know, there's no point bringing her inside if she's not going to get proper medical care while she's with us.

The girls have been watching her all day. They rejected the name "Oreo" and are calling her "Lila". So we have feral Lola on the porch, and friendly Lila inside. Their assessment is that her nails need an urgent trim, and this might be why she's limping. I doubt it's that simple, but it can't hurt to try.

Right now she won't let me get near her nails. The girls swear she walked around a lot earlier, but she's lying very still now. In the morning I'll put her food a bit away for her. I want to see how well she walks.

It's definitely not *just* her nails, though - she growls when people touch her hip or shoulder. If she walks all right tomorrow, and her limp isn't worse than when I saw her yesterday, then I'll assume she's recovering and just keep an eye on her. If that's not what happens, then she'll have to go to the vet.

Awwww, poor little fuzzykitten. *ear scritchies for the teeny meower* Fingers crossed for a very minor, temporary oops! sort of kittenly injury that heals soonest.

Lila now gets the gentle medic icon, because really. :)

No such luck. Now that I've personally seen her moving around more than a few steps, my money's on "dislocation".

I've contacted as many rescue organizations as seemed reasonable, so let's hope one of them coughs up the funds.

Contacted a few shelters and animal rescue organizations. Said I'm willing to foster for a short time, but I really need help with any vet bills.

Well, it all worked out all right for me. The Payless by the shelter is going out of business, so I got a few pairs of shoes at 75% off.
