Hah, you're concerned about mad science, but literally the other day, someone I know posted this.

A lot of good links there; thanks! 'Kirk Drift' is the one I particularly like - I was a Trekkie from the very first episode of ToS, and I've always been a bit annoyed by the idea of Kirk being 'Horatio Horndog', because he so wasn't that. He was handsome, charming and gallant; he liked the ladies and they liked him back, but he was married to his ship. As for Kirk/Spock, there's obviously deep love and trust between them, and maybe occasional hints of physical attraction, but neither of them would ever consider such an unprofessional liaison.

I have to object to one point in the article:
"apparently sexually harassed nurse Christine Chapel clean off the ship:
Yeah, but we know who she's talking about: Little Miss Inappropriate Unrequited Crush, who mooned around after Spock in ToS until he finally threw soup at her to make her quit it. So I would guess that in Into Darkness, Kirk had been her crush-object, and she had bored all her friends silly with obsessing and fantasizing over him, but he never noticed her.
