Date: 2017-05-16 04:18 am (UTC)Like, what if he is no longer in possession of the White House because he's decamped to NORAD, and somebody else (say Pence) declares themselves (or is declared by a military coup) to be the real legitimate president at the White House? What if we have a situation where more than one person is claiming, with some basis, to be president?
Or what if he's arrested and jailed? What does that do to his status as POTUS? (So it turns out a conviction and prison sentence don't disqualify someone as Mayor of Boston.) If he's hauled out of the White House in an orange jumper and escorted to Attica, but is still, nevertheless, POTUS, does that count? And if so, is it the day of sentencing, or the day the sentence begins?
Mostly I'm just procrastinating picking a date, but I figured I should share my pedantry.
