The answer seems to be that in the right wing hate-off between gays and Muslims, Muslims are winning by a hair, though I'm sure more opinions are coming in. That's not very surprising - politically, you can still get somewhere by hating Muslims, and xenophobia is always popular during economic downturns, but right now blatant homophobia doesn't bring much broad appeal.

The news report our driver listened to in the taxi made much of the fact that the shooter allegedly declared his allegiance to ISIS. Frankly, I'm dubious. I mean, he may have - probably did! - but what does that mean other than that he thought it'd get him even more attention? Probably that's all it is, though I doubt ISIS will publicly repudiate him.

Of all the fucking awful things to happen on a day, this is not how I wanted to wake up.
