You hear so much about knife attacks in Israel right now, and to date I've only found one more or less mainstream source questioning this.

I've seen the video they mention, I'm not convinced that it clearly shows soldiers planting a knife. It's a distance video, taken with what, a cell phone? It's hard to see what's going on.

But the thought just sticks in my mind. Sure, if the suspect actually stabbed somebody it's hard to argue with that! But in a situation where some people are going around stabbing others, is it really believable that the soldiers and the cops never mistake a cell phone for a knife, never shoot somebody by accident?

If you told me that was the case in America, I wouldn't believe it, and American cops (and soldiers) don't have the same reasons to be jumpy as Israelis do.

So how should I be interpreting the fact that I never see articles or news about some Palestinian who was shot on suspicion of having a knife or gun, but whoops, turns out that this was a mistake? How suspicious should I be?

Each individual case might be quite correct, but can they really all be? Is this actually possible? (And is it worth bringing this up with most people who are really invested in the Good Guys and Bad Guys scenario they've made up rather than the more complex situation that actual humans are likely to be involved in?)
