Re what my part of the world eats for thanksgiving. We always have a green bean caserole, which is apparently a thing in the middle of the country, but not down here. I always wondered where that came from since we don't eat it on any other day of the year (including Christmas when we mostly eat the same things as Thanksgiving except a ham instead of a turkey). I'm surprised it isn't more common around the country for my parents to have picked it up. But there you have it, I guess. No one in my family is from anywhere in the highlighted region.
