The girls aren't here today
Aug. 20th, 2015 02:51 pmCalloo, callay? Well, it's lonely without the thumpety thump of decreasingly little feet (they both wear women's size shoes now), and the constant whine of, well, whining.

Date: 2015-08-20 09:32 pm (UTC)Somehow it doesn't surprise me that Arabs in Jerusalem want Israeli citizenship. I feel like I'd expect them to be more cosmopolitan.
Black journalists writing about black deaths was very interesting and important -- I may have to repost that to Facebook.
Donald Trump's insistence that the 14th Amendment is unconstitutional was the straw that finally got my unthinkingly anti-Obama mom to say something negative about Trump. Specifically that he may need to get some kind of guardian to handle his money, because he's clearly incompetent to handle his own affairs and will throw away all his money fruitlessly. I was pleased that she might finally be starting to get it.

My bus driver today was drumming up support for Bernie Sanders on the drive. I told him, I'm all for socialism, but I'm terrified that in 2016 it's gonna be the last Republican standing.

2) Yeah... I love Bernie's values but I'm kind of worried about ages and electability of almost everyone who's running on the Democratic team, as well as how few of them are getting media attention. And then the Republican side seems to mostly be openly bad people...

Date: 2015-08-21 01:28 pm (UTC)Well, we have for my whole lifetime, but I don't think it's a given. Weren't there a ton of Republicans in a row before GHW Bush?

Date: 2015-08-21 02:44 am (UTC)Amazing to think your girlies are practically women now. Sheesh, amazing to think my own is turning 26, but I've watched her get there, whereas I've only read about Eva and Ana, and seen the occasional photo, so in my mind, they're still wee lassies.
Mice DO sing, and it's not true that no human can hear them! I had pet mice from second grade up until college, and I heard them sing a number of times; they'd wake me up at night with it sometimes. I didn't realize at the time that it was the males doing it, but thinking back, yeah, it was always the lonely boys.
Nobody ever believed me that they sang, so it's nice to be vindicated after all these years. No doubt I was only hearing the very lowest register of their songs - same as with bats, when I was young I could 'feel' the next-highest register that I couldn't actually 'hear' per se - but I could hear enough to know when they were singing.
