And this time I'll let you see what's prompting it.

Islam: A religious group. There is no "one way" to practice Islam, just like there is on "one way" to practice Christianity.

Muslim: A person who follows the religion known as Islam.

Arabic: A language, with many different dialects, some of which are very far apart. Spoken primarily by Arabs and Muslims.

Arab: Not synonymous with Muslim. Many Muslims are not Arab, many Arabs are not, nor have ever been Muslim.

It always impresses me how people seem to be content to live in ignorance. So many people don't understand the difference between the words "Islam" and "Muslim" (admittedly, for English speakers, they're foreign words that sound similar and are related in meaning), but there are also so many people who think that everyone who's Arabic is also Muslim. But I get just as irritated when people assume I'm Christian because I'm a white American (living in the Midwest, at that).

Why don't you have Islamofacists on there? =(

Here's hoping I'm not the only one obsessed with mocking Mr Mikey Savage (Wiener...)

The Allah v. God thing has always fascinated me.

The Christian God is Yahweh (I believe I spelled it correctly) though he's never called that. I think this stems from being unable to say God's name, so you... what, call him by a title? That's like having a pet turtle and naming it Turtle. Calling God by what he is seems a bit disrespectful to me, but hey. I think it says something about how much more personal Islam is of a religion (not to mention that you don't need any intermediary or training).

I like the way Islam does things. They cut out the fluff and get straight to the "this is you, this is Allah. Pray five times a day, follow the five pillars and have fun kiddies!"

I mixed that up then-- I thought it was Yahweh/Allah, and that only Christians and Jews had a taboo against calling him by name (though it's the same deity for all three). I guess it's a lot of their idioms that throw me off.
