This is in no small part because after she went into panic mode during the placement test I decided to just bump her down a level from whatever it said. Is this cheating? Perhaps - but it's a lot better than holding her hand like I had to do during the placement.

She managed to bend her scantron while doing her test, so I'm gonna have to, like, iron it or something. Can you iron those? You can iron dollar bills, and you can iron ATM cards on a low heat (that really works if you bend yours! Like, I managed to salvage one that was bent at a freaking 90 degree angle and had turned white, and the white line even disappeared!), so... here's hoping.

To make her math test even simpler I ditched all schoolwork for today other than watching the news, and let her subdivide it into two sections, one for today and one for tomorrow. The weather is so beautiful, after tomorrow we're going to start doing school in parks.

You can probably iron a scantron. Did you already do it? If not, maybe do a test with a piece of paper with pencil marks on it and see if anything bad happens. Graphite shouldn't melt/burn, but who knows. Scantron machines usually run either on OCR (in which case it doesn't matter) or conductivity (in which case it might).

How did you end up with access to a scantron you can iron, though? Most times when I inflict scantrons on my students I end up collecting them immediately (and usually mailing them off somewhere).
