Guess the song, anybody?
Jun. 12th, 2004 02:13 am1. Mica, mica, parva stella!
Miror quaenam sis tam bella!
Splendens eminus in illo
Alba velut gemma, caelo
Mica, mica, parva stella!
Miror quaenam sis tam bella
2. Tres mures! Tres mures!
Caeci currunt! Caeci currunt!
Erat uxor agricolae,
Quae caudas secuit cultro.
Vidistine magis mirabilem
Quam tres mures?
3. Pluvia, pluvia, desine.
Veni huc alio die!
4. Ba-la ovis, est lanitum tibi?
Sic vir, sic vir, sunt tres sacci mihi.
Primum patrono, alterum matronae,
Tertium repono, puerulo villae.
Ba-la ovis, est lanitum tibi?
Sic vir, sic vir, sunt tres sacci mihi.

(It may just be a nursery rhyme I'm unfamiliar with--you'd be amazed at the regional variations. For instance, I never heard the Tommyknockers rhyme until I read of it in the eponymous King novel.)

One for my master, one for my dame,
One for the little boy that lives down the lane.

Date: 2004-06-12 05:20 pm (UTC)There's a point to this comment though. I was in a bookstore carrying books in various languages today, and I saw the first Harry Potter book translated into Latin (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/1582348251/qid=1087085764/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/104-3386690-6562336?v=glance&s=books). Made me think of you for some reason. :) (And I was tempted to buy it, I looked through it and it seemed fun, but I didn't have enough money. Bah!)
