conuly8:35 we head out to swim class. Tommy, our newbie cat, starts following us. And panting, no less. Who ever heard of a cat that pants? He's done this before, so I'm no longer worried it indicates any real distress on his part, it just seems to be something he does.
I immediately implement our general rule for Tommy: Don't look back, don't talk to him, don't encourage him. I don't know why I keep thinking this will work, but that's what I do.
No good. Every block we hear the same "jinglejinglejingle" as he jogs to keep up. Ignoring him never works.
Finally, we cross a mildly busy street. That should stop him. He's scared of traffic, right? Indeed, he did wait quite a while before deciding - and then he crossed with us anyway!
And this, ladies and gentlemen, is why I showed up at Lyons Pool carrying a cat. Too late to bring him home, didn't want him getting hit by a car.
Walked all the way home, deposited him behind the door, then immediately ran out again to pick up the girls after their class. D'oh!
