Two women are gossiping. One of them is talking about her brother's fiancee, but before she says what's so horrible about this woman she breaks off her conversation to walk up the stairs while her friend takes the elevator. They then meet up just in time for us to find out that *gasp* the fiancee is FOUR WHOLE INCHES TALLER THAN HE IS! I mean, can you imagine?

I'm not sure which part of this commercial is worse, the idea that you have to by an overpriced, unhealthy salad at a fast food chain with a toy to walk, or the fact that these four inches are apparently something people should care about. Either way, I feel as though I've been firmly insulted. I mean, god, are people honestly that shallow/stupid?

You were... going to sleep?

Yeah I saw that. It IS McDonald's after all. Notice it's a tall white woman who doesn't need to lose weight, in an expensive business suit. Isn't her friend the token black chick or is she in the elevator?

And those salads are a LOT better than anything else there, seriously. The grilled chicken caesar one (with dressing) has 480 calories, as opposed to say a regular cheeseburger which has about 350 (plus fries, coke, etc).

I usually get the grilled one sans dressing though because I see no reason to get a salad with FRIED CHICKEN. And dressing is just ugh.

Yeah I know I'm just being a putz.

Forgive me?

Not to mention the fact that there is no way she could make it to the next floor as quickly as her friend in the elevator.
Walking is better, but the elevator is faster, and McDonalds is stupid for trying to make it seem otherwise.
Well, Mc is stupid for lots of reason, but that is now one of them.

Hmmm. Ok, that was an untested assumption. The only seemed to go up one floor, which for that I think the elevator would be best.

One school I work in, the elevator takes a full 20 seconds per floor. Believe me, the stairs are MUCH faster!

McDonald's makes me really glad that I never watch TV and rarely listen to the radio, because the few times I accidentally listened to one of those stupid freaking I'm lovin' it! commercials, I came this close to stabbing myself with a pen. How I loathe those commercials. And McDonald's. Why must they exist?

Yes. :|

I regularly eat at a McDonald's a few days each week (it's icky, but it's the ONLY place to eat at that's 1. close enough to university that it'll not take me a half hour just to get to it 2. cheap enough that I can afford to eat at it... even though sometimes I've been seriously tempted to just find a supermarket and buy some bread and ham and make myself a sandwich for lunch... at times I ended up skipping lunch rather than eating at McDonald's... but I digress), and you wouldn't believe the amount of stupid people it seems to attract. My favourite kind is people who order two big drippy cheeseburgers and double fries, or something equally greasy, and then go, "oh, and a diet coke, I'm trying to cut down on my calory intake". Which I thought had to be an urban legend, until I actually saw it happening. Several times. *boggle*

So it doesn't surprise me that they tailor their commercial to the stupid...

I've done it sometimes - the main problem is that I can't really bring lunch from home, because it either arrives very squished or won't fit in my bag / backpack at all (I tend to carry too much stuff with me). And the city where I study is 45 mins by train away from the one I live in, so I can't go home for lunch (wish I could). And sometimes supermarkets are closed when I get out of class.
There's also the fact that the morons at university won't let us stay inside the university if we're eating something, and there's no nearby benches or parks or anything, so I have nowhere to sit to eat if I bring lunch from home. :|

Ah well... I'm graduating soon -> no more having to eat cheap and in a hurry -> no more McDonald's -> yay!

Yes, people ARE that shallow.

I'm so short I've never had to use that excuse, though I've thought it when I guy two inches taller than me (making him 5'1) suddenly thought that our two year platonic friendship was an open gateway to my cooter. I just looked at him and thought "ew, no. You're an ass, a bad friend, too short..." but then, when you're actually in love it doesn't matter. It's amazing how much it matters when the guy's a creep though.

PS: McDonald's can fall off a cliff and die. ^^

I've heard people actually having similar conversations about short men dating tall women, but never about short women dating tall men...

That's because by "traditional" standards, the man wasn't "manly" enough if his woman towered over him. Seriously - my cousin was all worried that her daughter wouldn't be able to get a guy because she was "too tall". Makes me wanna scream. And for the record, she did get a guy, and has 3 or 4 kids by him.
