I'm not sure we even bought that subscription, we might have gotten it for free somehow.
Anyway, no reading materials were really off-limits to anybody in the house so magazines might as well belong to anybody. I don't remember anything from that magazine other than one personal article one month about a Tranquility Bay-style troubled teen reform "school". Except that this article came out before the news around those places really spread around, and the tone was overwhelmingly positive.
It hit on all the same points all contemporary exposes do - the late-night kidnapping, the terrible food (and never enough of it), the strict rules against talking to other residents or even looking at them until enough good behavior had been logged, and so on, but whoever wrote it (and god, now I hope that this was all fictional) had really bought into the story that all this is beneficial and necessary to keep kids from jumping right off that slippery slope.
Every once in a while since then I think about that article and wonder about the girl who wrote it. Hopefully not a real person, but if she was, I wonder if she's all right today. No way of knowing, I guess.
