Random Commenter One: Ugh, how can you like this? I don't know why everybody here likes it so much, I hated it, wasn't it awful because of that one character?
Other Commenter: Uh, what?
Random Commenter One: Well! Maybe it's an age thing! I'm 51 after all, maybe I can't understand the youths.
Me: Wow, 51 and you don't have better manners than this!
Random Commenter Two: Don't you think everybody is entitled to their opinions!?
Me: Yup, they sure are! And so am I! Most people learn sometime in kindergarten that not every opinion needs to be shared just because you happen to have it. Maybe you two can start your own thread to talk about hating the thing?

Like, seriously, who the fuck even does that?

I didn't realize until I bumped into some neighborhood kids during school hours. Still, it's better than the year nobody told us they were going to have an air show on Memorial Day pretty much right over our house and I ended up in the basement with the kids for a good ten minutes. The kids thought I was absolutely out of my mind, but the last time I'd heard military planes right over my head was 3rd period, 9/11, immediately after our teacher informed us that all they knew is that all the planes had been grounded nationwide, so.

Edit: It is not Memorial Day. To be honest, I don't really keep track of that sort of thing now that the kids aren't in school. They're in college, they can keep track of their own days off.

I spend time at /r/whatsthatbook responding to people's posts just to say "Please flair this post as solved" - and by the way, sometimes that anodyne comment gets downvoted, which I do not understand. Other times it gets upvoted, which I do not understand either but appreciate.

Occasionally I reply to say "Hey, did you mean to flair this post as solved?" (Because they didn't bother to leave any sort of comment or edit their post saying what the book was, so who can tell.)

I say "occasionally" because it usually is something that only happens once a month or so, but I think I've done that at least six times in the past week, twice in the past day alone. And one of those times it was flaired by accident, so, I mean, there's obviously a need to double check.
