NYC is excusing students who go to the climate strike

provided they have parental permission.

And yet, when I was in high school and we had the Mets vs. the Yankees and the scheduled parade after, not only did we not get excused absences but my bio teacher scheduled a test for that day. She did it just to be a pain, I know it. We were about the only students and teacher in attendance.
