What a fucking week.
Jan. 6th, 2015 02:15 pmMonday, I intended to start school after our break, and my mother - despite just a few days ago bemoaning how behind the girls seem when she pounces on them with a pop quiz - goes "Oh, but I told them I'd take them to Michael's!"
Tuesday we managed to get school in.
Wednesday we did school, somewhat hampered by the fact that I lost my glasses and couldn't find them all day. (They were in my pants leg.)
Thursday I miss the garbage truck by minutes. If I put the trash out at 9pm, they don't show up until 1 the next day and animals get in the bags. If I wait until I go to bed, they show up at 12:01 on the dot and I miss them.
Today I went down to put something in the dryer, went down to get it out and a pipe had burst in the basement. Run upstairs, yelling "QUICK EVA GIVE ME YOUR PHONE!" and she says "Is something wrong?"
No, Eva, I just ran up here for funzies. And all Ana can think about is the fact that I'm not going to the store to get her treats until I figure out how much this is going to cost to fix.
Suffice to say, we aren't getting much school done today either, and I have informed the girls that they should do free reading while I cry, and we'll do catch-up history and science over the weekend.
On the bright side - not that there IS a bright side, but I try to find it anyway - the basement wasn't flooded. I got down there within half an hour of the pipe bursting, so that's good. Also, we finished our math, which is always my goal every morning. (I like to make my goals easily obtainable. Then, by merely doing math AND reading I feel like I've gone above and beyond.)
