And also poetry month. Ahem:

Autism aware?
Good! I love autism speaks.
No, wait - April fools!

And that is the last I will mention of them for hopefully quite some time. Honestly, they're like an April fools joke all on their own. (I considered "autism speaks disbanded" in the middle, but I thought the letdown might be too cruel.)

I had to badger my sister into sending me a version of this link. For some reason, she labors under the delusion that you can't send a link from Facebook, that individual Facebook pages have no URLs or something. Indeed, when it took me five seconds to track down how to copy the URL to paste it into an email to me on her phone, she went "well, you can see that's on Facebook, right?" Like all the stuff after the .com didn't exist!

The URL worked just fine, but this news article is more complete.

As I was walking home from the dentist today with Eva, I heard a cat mrowing piteously and there was a black and white cat! A different one, though. For one thing, this one had a collar, and for another he had testicles, and worst of all he has a badly infected eye. Poor thing has clearly been in a fight.

Happily, years of living here have taught me just what to do. I picked him up and walked him over to my neighbor's house, the one who feeds strays and usually has cat meds at cost. Another neighbor mentioned that he's the other one's littermate, and they used to belong to the people who lived in the house that had a fire, but now that they had to move they aren't taking the cats. So I have no worries about rehousing them, once I find somebody. With luck, I can find somebody who wants two, but luck isn't something I'm expecting.

Marian gave the poor boy some ointment and food, which he devoured, and told me that she took the girl cat to get fixed, but girl cat slipped out of the house Friday and hasn't been seen since. That's a little bit of a worry, but she's probably just holed up somewhere and will reappear when she gets hungry enough.
