We went over to a friend's house, where I accidentally fell into the role of Tickle Monster to the younger two. Whoops. During the dinner, the three year old decided that she should get into the job of bringing food to everybody as well, so she went around with an empty bowl demanding everybody take her soup. When she got to her diabetic sister, she was even more emphatic. "You have to eat this soup! It's sugar free!" The food I brought at the last minute was well received, which is great, because I got to use up one and a half cabbages making it, and we got a ton with the last CSA! I had been going to make Swedish meatballs, because the girls don't like them and since they're not here this weekend I had the perfect excuse, but that didn't work out.

On a recent Wednesday that felt like the first of winter, about a hundred and fifty children—mostly under seven—and their parents gathered at Pier 40, over at West Street and Houston. Their mission: to thank for their service the numerous small riverine creatures that have whispered their secrets to the kids since last spring, and liberate them. The River Project’s tanks needed to be drained and emptied for winter. Ergo, fishy freedom.

Can This Water-Recycling Shower Save $1,000 in Bills?

Seems to me that combining that with a more conventional gray water system would be a real winner.
