Well, fuck. I don't think I have anything at all intelligent to say on the subject. I feel so awful for those poor parents and the children.

There have been a few of them lately. Of course, I don't think I need to belabor the difference between 22 injured and 20+ killed. The same old people are claiming that the solution to gun violence is more guns, but I don't see it. "If the teachers had guns, they'd think twice before shooting up the school!" Yeah, think twice and then prepare better. If you're prepared to commit an atrocity, a little extra preparation will go a long way.
And, of course, as has become sadly predictable, some loser is on the news pontificating that this guy had Asperger's and that means no empathy, or something.
Autistics aren't sociopaths. We also aren't generally mentally ill, but if we were that would hardly matter. Mentally ill people are much more likely to be the victims of violence than the perpetrators. It's just a pity that every tragedy gives the ignorant a soapbox. Sheesh. My mother called me to let me know! Just what I wanted to discuss instead of watching TV with the nieces, the fact that some people don't know how ignorant they are and get rewarded for it.
