Gosh, I love a good gumbo. I'm not sure mine qualifies as one of the greats, but it's certainly edible enough!

Of course, I don't follow any of the fussy recipes out there. The only thing I fuss over is making my roux (note spelling, thanks). Made it ahead because it's so damn hot out. Nah, I mostly just toss everything in the skillet and hope generous applications of spices make it taste okay, and that generally works.

I was very lucky, that shrimp I tossed in was just on the cusp. Not much longer and it would've turned, absolutely.
