On a particularly breezy day when I happened to not have my own jacket on:

Evangeline: It's a good t'ing I have my coat. Otherwise I'd be out here fweezing to death!

Not long after that I happened to see a penny on the ground and bent to pick it up.

Evangeline: 0.0
Me: : )
Evangeline: CONNIE! That's not your penny!
Me: It is now. After all, see a penny, pick it up, all day long you'll have good luck, right?
Evangeline: No!
Ana: Yeah, that's how it goes.
Evangeline: *sighs* No, no, no. It's... you can't... pennies can't give you good luck. That's silly. Only if you buy something with a penny.

Four isn't as exciting as two for that, but it has its moments. From today:

Dog: BARKBARKBARK!
Me: *jumps* Oh! You scared me! *laughs*
Evangeline: Did you think that was ME?
Me: No, I... the dog. I said "you scared me" to the dog, and he DID scare me!
Evangeline: Dogs don't talk like people do. They don't say "Hi, how are you, I'm fine, this is my house" like that.
Me: That's right.
Evangeline: And they don't eat the same foods people do. And they don't... they don't drink from cups. *laughs* Drinking from cups! That's cwazy. That's peopleness, that's not dogness! People drink from cups, and people don't drink like *slurpslurp* on the ground and get water all over on them. That's dogness.

minutes later....

Evangeline: Did that used to have water in it? *pointing to a big water bottle that's on the back steps*
Me: Yup, but it's empty now, leave it alone.
Evangeline: But what's it doing now?
Me: Just sitting there.
Evangeline: No, I mean, for what reason?

For what reason? She's four! Where did she pick that one up?

And I got this in my email today:

Earth Day Photo Contest. Starting today through Monday 4/19, Bing is giving out $5 DonorsChoose.org gift cards to everyone who votes for their favorite photos at www.earthdayphotocontest.com. The first 20,000 voters per day will receive the $5 donation and can choose from thousands of projects to support, including over 1,000 environmental projects that need funding. It only takes two minutes – give it a try!

I got $5 from that just a few minutes ago, so clearly they still have some spots left. $5 isn't much, but why let any of it go to waste? Spread it around, too, 'k?
