We were at the playground. Honestly, we have to go into the city to get to a decent playground!

Ana was standing on a ladder - not the only one onto this playstructure - and a little girl was waiting at the bottom. After 30 seconds, she whined at Ana, and was totally ignored. I glanced over, saw they were about the same age, and decided to let them work it out alone.

Out of nowhere, other little girl glanced around, walked under Ana, then flopped down to the ground like she'd been hit. Pause of about ten seconds, then she started sobbing - really, really fake sobbing.

I would have laughed, really.

Both the nieces, I want to note, were totally oblivious to the 50 F weather, and stripped off their jackets to run around more efficiently. I would have minded this a little less if they weren't the only ones, but this playground is usually full up with overprotective parents and nannies - of the "2 years is too young to go down the slide alone!!!" variety - so I tried to ignore the oddness.
