With real world contact info, which I agree will probably be a lot more useful than emails.

(And please - don't harass the support board. I'm not currently doing support, but I have a lot of sympathy for people who can't do anything more than tell you what they've got to tell you, and who have no control over the situation anyway. Just direct your outrage or concern or whatever immediately to the correct people.)

All four (!!!!!) of them - remember, I'm helping out a friend with hers for a short time.

My mother has spent a ridiculous amount of time impugning my ability to manage four children (!!!!) at once, but it's the same as two. Getting ready to leave, that's hard. Out of the house? Easy-peasy!

We went to Bugs first thing. Their beehive is gone. This is the second one they've lost in two years. I suspected the cause before they put up the sign - indeed, before the bees were really gone. It's a scary thing to see, the numbers just... dropped.

Kid's got a temporary reprieve

Key word there is temporary. I suggest new emails, phone calls, or even real mails saying something along the lines of "Good job, and I repeat my request that he be granted asylum" - especially if you happen to be a citizen, and your opinion probably counts more.

He's not really safe yet, and you know and I know that you can't just let him drop into obscurity now that he *looks* safe.

*sniff*

Not that I'd been using it lately, but still! It's my mei-tai!

But the straps had been folded very soon after I started using it, and I never did take the time to iron them as I should, and after two years of being used every day with a growing child (and her growing sister), for an hour or so at a stretch... eventually, it got a rip along the crease (well, duh) in the bottom strap, and one that's pretty sure to be unfixable.

So I'm trying to figure out something I can do with the fabric. Jenn thought a doll mei-tai, and I'm considering it. There might even be fabric left over for an applique on a quilt or somesuch.

Evacdote. Prepare to die from cute... or, possibly, cannibalism )

As I said, I've been watching extra kids lately. Their mom speaks Spanish to them (and was quite surprised a few months ago when she realized that her kids understand English! And the older one can speak English!), so they're bilingual. Well, as much as they're lingual at all, the little one isn't quite two yet, and if you leave him to his own devices, he'll scream rather than talk. (At least, he does with his mother. Hasn't tried it with me yet, and I'd *like* to attribute that to my superior aunting skills, but it's more likely that it just hasn't occurred to him that he can do that with me too.)

Her girl, the older one, is really funny in a way. I overheard her talking to her brother, in Spanish, pointing out a casa, and a carro, and a cay-o (caballo), and this and that. When she noticed Ana standing nearby, she turned around and proceeded to repeat the entire paragraph word for word, in English. And she's just three a month ago! Bright girl, isn't she?
