Nov. 17th, 2006

The kids seemed ever so slightly under the weather (just a bit cranky, just a bit tired, just a bit drippynosed), and so close to the holiday I didn't want to expose other people's kids to our germs, you know? So we stayed in, then went to the store and baked.

Bundling up to go out is a nightmare, it almost wasn't worth it, even for orange muffins. So first I do Ana, because she's older, then I do the baby. Because she's not.

And Ana fights over the jacket, over the scarf, over the hat, over the mittens - finally, she's ready, and I tell her to go into the kitchen because that room is significantly less warm than Jenn's room....

Ana: Oh. So, why I have to go in the kitchen?
Me: Because I don't want you getting too hot.
Ana: Oh. Maybe I'll melt?
Me: No, you won't melt, but you'll be a little uncomfortable.
Ana: Okay. Evangeline, come on! (Not coaxing OR bossy, somewhere in between - hard to explain.)
Me: No, honey - Evangeline is staying in there so I can get her dressed to go to the store.
Ana: Oh. So she's not coming in the kitchen?
Me: That's right.
Ana: Oh. If she's not coming with me, then I'm staying in here with my sister!

...

Talk about melting!

The kid also did something else, but I'll post about it on the 15th, wait a second.
