We saw Elliot today.
Aug. 26th, 2006 02:30 amThey're moving within a week or two, but they still have no idea where they're moving, so, uh... with luck, we'll still see them occasionally.
Elliot's apparently decided I'm one of his very favorite people. I spent the afternoon listening to the strains of "Connie? Connie? Connie? Connie? Ana? Connie? Ana? Connie? Cana? Cana? Cana?" and "Can you spin me, Connie? Can you tickle me, Connie? Can you play "Baby Dinosaur", Connie? Can you sing Bat, Connie? Can you hug me, Connie?" except that sometimes my name came *first* in these sentences instead of *last*.
He eventually sat on my lap, snuggled, and (no joke) asked "Can I have nursies?"
Now, Elliot is weaned. Recently, but still. So I'm just sitting there, staring at this kid in my lap, like "Elliot? Am I your mother? Do I even look like your mother (who, by the way, is right here, in case you're a little confused, honey...)? Do you even still get nursies? No? Well, then I guess I can't give you nursies. Sorry, honey!"
Eventually, he and Ana retreated to the bathroom to have a long conversation about we don't know what. Couldn't make out the conversation, and didn't want to interrupt them.

On a note about "nursies"
Aug. 26th, 2006 02:40 amAna was thrilled, at the Natural History Museum, to see both a kangaroo and a zebra (stuffed, both of 'em) nursing.
"They have milk outside! I don't have milk outside. The baby can have milk outside, but I'm a big girl, I have milk inside, but they having milk outside! Look, he having milk!"
I told Jenn, but she didn't seem to post it in her journal, so I'm posting it for her.
