Isn't there a parable about this? Something about how the laborer is worthy of his hire?

A guy wanting to bring in his harvest hired people in the morning to help him, but when he saw he didn't have enough people he went back in the afternoon to hire more people to help him, and when that still wasn't enough he went back a few hours later for still more people - and then paid everybody the same flat wage, right?

And Jesus' response was pretty much "Yeah, it's unfair, suck it up", right?

Something like that*.

Of course, Jesus wasn't talking about LiveJournal, I think he was talking about Heaven, but the point still remains. If you buy a t-shirt for $25, and the very next day it goes on sale for $5, yeah, that sucks, but you're not going to whine that the store cheated you.

Well, probably. I may be overestimating the sense of the average LiveJournal user here. This isn't even the same thing! It's like if the store started selling cheap knock-offs for $5.

*Corrections to my version of events are more than welcome

[Poll #715815]

Wow. Lots of people picking "other". I'm dying of curiosity, in a low-pressure kinda way. More like "not really dying, but still curious".

Hey, guys?

Do you think I give good advice? People are everlastingly telling me I do, but I don't see it myself....

So...?

(No, really, I'm not just fishing for compliments here, I really want to know.)

She woke up, hugged her mom, waved at the window - and promptly curled up on the floor with a pillow, blanket, and bunny to fall asleep.

Woke up half an hour later to declare she was thirsty, VERY thirsty, and then fell back asleep after having some water.

Woke up an hour after that to declare that her stomach hurt (always a bad sign), and then promptly throw up all over my pants. Luckily, she'd only had milk in her stomach, so it wasn't that much worse than spit-up, which I'm quite unfortunately accustomed to by now....

And then she fell back asleep, periodically waking to declare that her throat and head hurt.

After this went on long enough, I felt her forehead... and discovered she was burning up. Oh dear. Worse yet, she was only half asleep, and breathing kinda shallowly. Oh dear.

So we had to trek to the doctor. No, I didn't take her and her sister on the bus in the rain. I got a friend to drive us. She felt much better on the trip there and back, but she still wouldn't walk.

(Eventually, I figured out that what she meant by "my legs hurt" surely was "my legs feel weak and wobbley, and I think I'll fall if I try to walk, please carry me)

She had a fever in the doctor's office of 101 F, and I *know* it was higher this morning. He diagnosed it as a sinus infection and sent us home, where she was awake and alert and active for a precious couple of hours (we watched a movie) before falling back asleep.

Poor baby. I haven't even been able to convince her to take more than a few sips of frozen juice boxes, which I've convinced her are "just like ice cream!" (Kid thinks of juice as a treat, and ice cream as a BIG treat, so juice-like-ice-cream should be a hit.) You know it's bad when she looks at you and mumbles "Connie, I just trying to sleep" in the middle of the day. Poor baby.

91 years.

Edit: That's a rhetorical question. And a paraphrase.
