I want that quote on a t-shirt. *nodnodnod*
Of course, pretty soon the whole "intelligent falling" joke will have been done to death and back. We need a new one.
Edit: No, I did *not* forget this link the first time.

But I feel almost sorry for the Phelps'. It can't be easy going through life without an original thought in your head. And all that hatred! Can you imagine what their schedules must look like?
6:30 Wake up, pray to God to thank him for not killing me
6:45 Shower
7:00 Eat breakfast, pray to God to thank him for feeding me
7:30 Hate gay people
9:00 Pray to God to kill gay people
9:15 Hate non-Christians
10:00 Read the Bible, but not the stuff about loving others
11:00 Read the Bible, but not the stuff about keeping kosher
12:00 Lunch, pray to God to thank him for feeding me, ask him to kill people he (and I!) hate
12:30 Hate gay people....
And on and on and on. When is there time to do things like, say, garden, or work, or not be a fucking asshole?
Poor, unfortunate, deluded souls.

Y'know what?
Jun. 13th, 2005 05:13 pmI'm sick of saying I want out of this country. Instead, can we exile the stupid people? PLEASE, can we exile them? Someplace far, far, far away from me?
Kynn may be asking when Jesus cured only the sick who could afford it. I'm wondering when this morphed into a Christian nation.

Which is the idea that this idiot was promoting the use of "warning labels" for gay people. I think he was trying to promote a warning label for the so-called "gay lifestyle" instead, despite the impossibility (and stupidity) of such a thing.
Oh, he's still a bigot. And stupid. But I don't think it's yet as bad as all that.
Do articles come in flocks or something? It seems like we'll have a few days of articles on one topic, a few days of articles on a second topic.... Today seems to be Gay Day, which is a nice change from Memos of Doom.

Jun. 13th, 2005 08:46 pmBut the vice president defended the treatment of Guantanamo's detainees, saying they have been treated "in a human fashion" but do not "qualify" for treatment under the Geneva Conventions "because they are unlawful combatants (who) have not operated in accordance with the laws of war: they haven't worn a uniform, they target civilians."
Laws of war. Oh, that's a good one. Real funny. Like the laws we violated by invading Iraq? As for targeting civilians, I fail to see how bombing cities doesn't fall into that category, no matter what you hoped to accomplish.

I know this person! FIRST COMMENT NINE TIMES? WOW! Congrats,

I feel silly. And tired. Being far too hot does that to me.

Do we really have it better than other feminists out there? At least in this country, I say yes. For now, at any rate. Here, I can file a police report if it was necessary, get birth control fairly easily, have the right to organize a march, tesitfy in court, get a job, vote, avoid being attacked for showing even the slightest bit of ankle, and so many more that I believe my fingers will explode with the heat of typing them so fast. If not better, then I'd say we're rather lucky.
So, I'm lucky I don't live in a repressive government? Yay?
How am I supposed to respond to something like that? Am I supposed to spend an hour or more of my life, time I will never get back, pointing out that the police don't always listen, that it's not always easy to get birth control, that women still don't get paid as much as men, that rape victims are still told they "dressed provocatively", that having more rights than some people isn't the same as having equal rights in our own country (whichever country that is, of course)?
Am I supposed to smile and nod and say "yup!" and move on?
Perhaps I'm supposed to keep my mouth shut over the fact that the OP is either very ignorant or very clever?
Of course, I could just do what I actually did do, which is point out that I'm not going to be happy and grateful to have some of my basic fucking human rights (original emphasis).
Apparently, this was the wrong choice. People agree, but I should not have been "an asshole" about it. Because when people say something so offensive that I can't believe it to be accidental, I should be polite. Or something.
I don't have time today to deal with stupid people.
