I think I know which ones I'm clearing, but if you'd like to suggest icons to clear, go ahead. Also, feel free to take any, so long as 1. they don't involve my name or family and 2. you tell the orignal creator. All the creators are credited in either the keywords (second word) or comments.

And I love it dearly, but the 96 x 96 size is squicking me out. No, I don't know why, it just is. So could somebody add a border or something around it to make it standard 100 x 100? I don't think I'd even mind if it were very much smaller, but being just slightly smaller than standard size is disturbing.

And thank you dearly! *hands out cookies to all*

On [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes somebody posted a grammatical quote which (of course) contained a minor error (it's for its). Nobody's sure if it was intentional or not, but it lead to a discussion of which law this sort of things falls under, and how to write such a law as a corolary to Godwin's law. That lead me to a page which explained quite a bit about Godwin's law, and mentioned that (apparently) among Nazi groups anti-Godwin applies: the longer a thread goes on, the greater the odds of somebody bringing up the Jews. Which lead me to this page, which has a nice listing of various Jewish groups, which reminded me of the whole schmatte fiasco a while back (and I was right!) where I only listed three groups (Azhenkazi, Sephardic, Ethiopian). I feel ignorant :(

Well, less ignorant now. And all it took was one silly post on [livejournal.com profile] metaquotes!

With that note, I need to find something to do. I can see this taking over my life like conlangs did way back when. And while those were interesting, and this certainly is too, it *does* interfere with other things.

He's apparently started to internalize ASL, which is just *so cool*, and I said it must be his "natural language". I just invented that to mean that this was easier for him to think in than many other languages, but it started me thinking - is it normal to have an internal cue towards a certain type of language structure - even when it's not your own?

Ages back, I started (but never finished, or even did very much with) a conlang that formed verbs from everything. Even though this never went anywhere, and I was done with it within a few days, since then I think things in terms of "bed-going" or "door-closing". It's just easier to say "I door-closed" than "I closed the door". Clearly, this isn't normal English structure. I'm a monolingual speaker (more's the pity...). So why do I find it easier to use this foreign construction? I shouldn't, should I? But I definitely do.

Oh great.

So now extraterrestrial lifeforms will judge us by...

1. Talk shows
2. Soap operas
3. Reality TV
4. Craigslist
5. Bored teens making prank calls

We're all gonna die.

*sighs*

Okay....

I'm watching BSG at one, to give mommy a chance to watch monk (because we're down to one TV right now, no I don't know why). SG1 was silly-ish, Atlantis - dear god, are they just killing off everybody??? *sighs*

Oooh!

I forgot! Ana is old enough to dye eggs now! And find them! I mean, she is, right? She's nearly two!

And 'dul? You need to get out of the house once a week. I want to babysit. And get paid. But mostly hang out with Ana. She's cute, smart, funny, sweet, and anyway it's not like I don't spend the money on toys for her anyway (newest thing I want to get her? a latches board thingy).

*dances around happily*

I love dying eggs. I don't know why I forgot to do that last year. So let's see. We don't want to overwhelm her... say six eggs each for me, Jenn, and the kid? That's 18... better get a full two dozen, I can easily do nine. Or twelve.

As you may or may not know, I have a teether. I had lost my teether, actually, which didn't seem like such a big deal until I realized that 1. I was eating more and 2. it wasn't helping to eat more, as I was still chewing my cheeks all the time, causing me to have gaping wounds.

But I have found it, and (after giving it a thorough scrubbing) commenced rejoicing.

Honestly, I cannot reccommend this thing enough. I imagine that actually teething people (such as toddlers and babies) like it as well. It's got the two water-filled chewy sections, which turn nice and cold with refrigeration, the two hoop-like sections which let you get the back teeth, and the bumpy section, which just feels nice (the stripy section feels weird, but 5/6 isn't half bad!).

The only problem is that it looks silly. This might not concern a child, but it concerns me, and it leaves me chewing my cheeks whilst in public - pens are filthy. I need to find a more discreet alternative for being in public, because, really, without it I have massive injuries. And I gain weight.

This has been an unpaid ad, courtesy of my inner cheeks, which are quite happy to have this chance to heal.

Edit: Oh, and I forgot to mention that it makes a pleasant rattle sound when you shake it. Not really what I do all day, but if I can get pleasure out of rattlerattle, so can your average baby.

It's about... or not about, rather, Terri Schiavo.

Moggy has quite a few of those links up, actually, though I'm not sure if they're on public posts or not.

I love that show. I really, really love that show. Ah! *is now dumbstruck by her love of this show*

I certainly was, so I don't know why it makes me emotional that others are. I don't think I'd ever feel scared if I had one belief or another to say "Hey Mommy, I've decided that I'm a *insert religion here*". Even with my dad, who was, as I recollect, very strongly areligious, I don't think I could ever be scared to say "look, I'm not". (As it happens, I am agnostic, despite my abiding interest in religions, but that's really not important for this discussion here.)

Link is taken with many thanks from [livejournal.com profile] griffen. He has all the cool links :(
