I know, I'm late.
Nov. 8th, 2004 01:12 pmBut I was waiting for somebody to post this again.
It's one of the purple vote-maps, this one marked in voting areas (counties? districts?) instead of state by state.
Edit, this link is better.
Edit again. This is REALLY cool. I want an icon of the last one, I think.

Nasa is studying the guy who inspired the character Rain Man.
That's an awkward sentence, but at least it's correct.

And here we go again.
No, I'm sure it doesn't say anything about religion. It also doesn't say anything about the difference between the scientific and the common definitions of the word "theory", meaning that it implies a lot more than what you'd hope it implies. Additionally, the phrase "not a fact" is... well, stupid. Something can be a fact even if it is unproven. Really, that's what gives the lie to their statement that it "encourages critical thinking". How could it, when the sticker says "not a fact" like that?

Teachers in Arkansas can still reward students with candy.
Question: Why can't they reward students with something else? Growing up, we always got stickers. Or no-homework passes, or 5 extra points on a test. Not candy!
Question: Why are they concerned about obesity, but NOT about the potential damaging effects of rewards? I remember reading in my psych class, children who were rewarded for drawing were much less likely to choose to draw later. There's a lot of not-good implications of that, and related, studies.

Nov. 8th, 2004 02:47 pmSEX TRIAL ISLAND???
Looks like a nickname you'd find in a tabloid. Sex trial island. It's got a name, you know. Call it Pitcairn island. Not... sex trial island. *shudders*

1. Gale? Weren't you sending me a laptop battery?
2. No chance anybody has a spare digital camera lying around, right? Like, if you were going to get a new one? And carelessly toss the old one out? Yeah. Didn't think so.
3. Anybody got spare extra userpic space for the perennially cheap? I can pay for it, I just don't wanna. I mean, I *will*, but I'm stingy.
Please, post your own begs here. I implore you.
