Today, I'd like to talk about backseat modding.

Now, backseat modding can be fun, and it doesn't even have to be bad, but...

1. Posting just to backseat mod is rude.
2. Posting just to backseat mod ONE person over her language when everybody on the board has used similar language is silly.
3. Posting just to backseat mod a MOD over her language when everybody on the board has used similar language is fucking hysterical. And stupid.

Seriously, though, don't backseat mod. Or, not often. Just contact a real moderator to do your dirty work. Not only is it slightly more effective, but it means if you do something stupid like BACKSEAT MOD A MODERATOR only one person will know about it to mock you.

People, the LJ-Cut is your friend.

If you're posting an image, it's really your friend, especially if it's a large image. Some of us (me) only have screens set to 800x600 resolution and really hate having to scroll left and right to read our friends pages. Others (not me, thankfully) have really slow dialup connections and hate having to wait 20 minutes for the page to load.

The FAQ explains very nicely how to make an lj-cut and even put cute text in the cut. Please, please, please, if you're posting an image, especially if it's an unimportant image such as a quiz, just cut it. Okay?

And if you think this means you, it does. If you think it doesn't mean you, it does.

If people on a forum don't like you because you're rude....
And they're clamoring to ban you because you've been caught insulting people on what is probably a fake account (because the mods aren't stupid and know how to run an IP check)....
And you tried to get out of it by claiming you were just trying to get your cousin in trouble....

Please, please, PLEASE don't post as a guest to say "good riddance" to yourself. Not only is that stupid, but it's stupid. WE CAN FIND OUT YOUR IP ADDRESS. It's really very simple. And when we do that, we also know who else has posted from the same IP address. And seeing as how that's the same mistake you made last time... and the time before that... Let's just say nobody was very surprised. It's really really dumb, by which I mean YOU ARE AN IDIOT.
