This is an interesting article...

It's about different SOMEthings in AS... Not sure how else to describe it. Go read!

Some comments:

1. He's sure right about having no idea about time, seriously, I'm completely PARANOID about being late because I never know how time is flowing. Though I also have no sense, or a limited sense, rather, of space, as in "how much space things take up" and direction. I tend to think of these things as related, though I doubt they really are.

2. I'm hardly faceblind. Except for a few embarassing incidents... like the number of classes I've had where the same person was in both classes, sometimes one right after another (in high school) so they came to both with me... and to me, they seemed like different people. And there's a number of people who know me and I just don't know them at all. But there's also plenty of people I very easily recognize, even people I have no *need* to recognize (family, mostly). I'm not sure why this is, or what it is, but it's NOT faceblindness. Anyone have the same issues, aspie or not?

3. CAPD: I want to do more research into this. Jenn, don't let me forget.

I'm not going to attempt to analyse the behavior part of the paper, I have no interest in trying to recall my behavior. Other people can do that for me.

There was no point to me saying any of this, of course. I just thought you might like to read it. Or maybe not. Whatever.

*giggles* I love browsing sites' hatemail...

I'm not linking to the sites, just the hatemail, you can go have a good giggle and then find out what they're criticising by following the linkies. And, yes, I'm sure conservative type sites also get stupid hatemail, I just don't tend to go to such sites to begin with. Sorry. The point really is this: Hatemail is stupid, no matter who sends it.

Especially since most people who send hatemail are illiterate.

Only complaint with this is they screen for the stupidest hatemail. Not quite fair!

Go ahead, have a good laugh, post other sites with hatemail. Most every site gets that, methinks.

So far, none at all for fat/thin people. *preens* I'm SO openminded.

Okay, this pisses me off....

I was at Autistics.org to check the links they have, and one of them was about a guy who wanted to bother another user he'd been arguing with and managed to disable a huge part of the internet for Houston's port.

Okay, fine. Sure, people do stupid things like that. Criminal people do stupid things like that. But could somebody explain this paragraph to me:

"Mr Caffrey, who suffers from Asperger's Syndrome - a form of autism - was said to be in love with an American girl called Jessica at the time."

Hm... are they saying that no neurotypical would do that? Or that he would not have done that except for the AS part? Fact is, this is bullshit. Not all aspies are destructive criminals, in fact, I'd guess that most of us aren't. You would NEVER read "the alleged criminal, who is completely normal...".

If you still don't see the problem, try it like this:

"The alleged criminal, who is black..."
"The alleged criminal, who happens to be Jewish..."

If the statement about AS had any relevance, sure, go ahead and put it in. But it didn't. He is not innocent because, oh, well, he couldn't help it, he's got some weird mental condition. The only purpose of that line was to unfairly paint a group of people as mentally unstable, potentially criminal. Gee, thanks guys.
