I like how the article thematically juxtaposes the profiles - hunter v. hunter, 2 rich kids with very different worldviews, the lifelong quarry worker v. the ASBO (though I suppose that may begin to have unfortunate implications if I think about it too long).
(also I want to be Joey in my next life)
EDIT: It's been much too long since I got a random link to some photographer's website and ended up nigh-uncontrollably clicking through everything.
One thing that strikes me is that none of the North American families is shown as having a child sharing a room. Joey's room appears to have a bunk bed, but I'm guessing that if that was where his sister slept, it'd have been mentioned. (I shared a room with at least one sibling for almost all my growing up.)
Well... I wondered about her. But she is an only child, so if she's sharing, she's sharing with her parents, which is quite possible, but I'd think the text would say so if she was - would say something like "the bedroom Alyssa shares with her parents" rather than "Alyssa's bedroom".
I feel bad for some of them, particularly the karate kid there. Which seems strange given that she's not in desperate poverty, but she doesn't seem to have any time to be a kid. Even the one who works in the quarry knows the meaning of the word "play", though I doubt she gets to do much of that herself.
