Of the three kittens, one of them (whom I previously considered kinda stupid) has proven to be surprisingly adept at getting the stupid cone off his head. Even now that it's wedged on as firmly as possible (he went into such convulsions at that point that I was scared he couldn't breathe, but no, he just wanted the thing off. I locked him in a carrier overnight because I was worried he'd pop his stitches jumping around like that) I keep having to free his foot from the cone.

This is the one who is pathetically needy. Surprisingly, he was the one that took longest to emotionally recover from the whole ordeal. I didn't think I'd see the day when this guy ignored me, but that was last night! If I pet him, he stayed very still until I stopped, then turned and walked away. If I picked him up, he got off my lap as soon as he could. He was NOT happy and clearly, it was all my fault.

Even now, he's friendly, but he's not thrilled at my presence. I even let him sit on my shoulder (which I never do, he eats hair - but he can't do that now!) and he was barely mollified.

Then there's his brother, who doesn't let the cone of no licking stop him. Despite the fact that he's really just licking the inside of the cone, he keeps grooming himself. Well, I doubt it'll do him harm, and if it makes him happy....

And just thing, I have to go through this all over again with the girls in a week! I wish I could have them understand English long enough to explain to them why this is really for the best... but then they might talk back and argue with me, and who wants that?

Yes, once I get over the guilt of watching them stumble around with stupid cones on their heads (and I totally did this to them!) it's just full of funny moments. But don't tell them I'm laughing at their pain!
