And in about three weeks it will be September of 2011, and not long after that it will be the tenth anniversary of 9/11.

And I want to be really clear, right now. I mean, right now.

I don't want to hear about it.

I'm not going to run around defriending people, but whatever you have to say, if I'm your friend, please consider sticking it behind a well-marked cut. If it's going to be FLocked anyway, do me a favor, make a custom group and keep me out of it.

The only thing I want to hear about it is that after next year we'll stop talking about it until the 25th anniversary. That'd make me really happy. Because the only thing worse than being in the city on 9/11 (and luckily I was safely trapped on Staten Island) is having to talk about it, every year, and watch that awful footage on TV.

I already have to live in this city, but when it comes to online, do me a favor and leave me out.

Thank you!

Alas, we won't, because we're still in the middle of the war for which 9/11 was either an intolerable provocation or an implausible excuse, depending on one's view.

I put all posts behind a cut, and try to label my cuts well enough for people to know whether or not they want to read them. I have no idea who actually clicks on any of my cuts, besides the very few people on my F'list who comment regularly.

Meh - whoever blew it up, Al Quaida, Mossad, the Saudis, the Dominionists or the Decepticons, it's been clear from Day 1 that We the People aren't being told the truth, and that our own government moved with great speed and thoroughness to get rid of as much evidence as possible before it could be examined. So there's no proof of anybody's speculations, and never will be. IMHO, keeping on talking about it is just more 'Bread and Circuses' to distract people from real issues they could actually do something about.

Petitions to get a bill, proposal or candidate on the ballot are the only kind that are any use. Internet petitions are just stupid; they serve no purpose but to give people an excuse to pat themselves on the back for Doing Their Bit without having to go through all the terrible stress and effort of sending a three-sentence e-mail to their elected representative.

It's possible there was a conspiracy within our government to blow up the WTC, but it doesn't follow that it was therefore by our government, which comprises a lot of people. The FBI, CIA, etc. don't give a damn if you suspect them of stuff, because you've got no wealth, no weapons, no organization, no followers, no political influence, no security clearance and no criminal record or connections

This is not why I don't have a TV, but it's a convenient benefit; I'm not suggesting you get rid of yours, but it might be worth limiting your viewing to prerecorded entertainment (of any genre other than potentially topical comedy) for a while.

I stopped watching TV a few years ago... haven't missed it and still don't, thanks to this kind of stuff. XD

I got my first LJ a couple of weeks or so after 9/11 occurred. I'm kinda bummed that I hadn't started it earlier so I could go back and look at what I wrote then, because I've heard about all this research about how we get these distorted memories of big, historical events. I would have loved to gone back and see how accurate my memories really were.

But that's just for the scientific nerd in me. On the other hand, I can't believe it's ten years ago. Wow. I've been on LJ almost 10 years?
