My favourite playground ever was the Adventure Playground in Holland Park. It had big, multiple level house on stilts things, huge rope swings of two sorts (can only use supervised and can use unsupervised) and some slides and a fireman's pole. I was a lonely kid with barely any friends, a sister six years younger than me (so frequently not ideal for playing games with until the age of two or three) and an overwhelming desire to be Edmund from the Lion the Witch and The Wardrobe.

That playground was great for imaginative play, and staffed/supervised. Then they decided they couldn't afford staff, so took it down and put in a playground that didn't require supervision but was more dangerous (death merrygoround. A witch's hat- which is a spider web you pile children into and then start spinning- it is the kind of thing that you really should have a supervisor around for, not a stressed fourteen year old trying to make sure her little sister doesn't get bullied, sick or die)
