Which is a stupid phrase. I'm nursing myself, I want my headache to die. Headaches do NOT get love and attention, and certainly not lovin' attention, and NO NURSING.

But I digress. Very much do I digress.

I read Monstrous Regiment today. Um. In the past 24 hours, anyway. I loved it. It was great. It was wonderful. It's a good book, I think, to start out with as far as Discworld goes because it doesn't focus on our main characters too much, so it lets you kinda sink into the subject without having to worry about missed backstory. Yes, I also eschew the concept of reading a series in order.

Oh, and it's funny. I honestly was laughing out loud at various points during the book, like when Blouse was going on and on about how "the lads" couldn't act female or, really, when it steadily became more clear that everyone in the regiment (?) was female, and then... um... Vampiregirl finally confessed and acted like people should be surprised. Good book, good times, loved it. The only thing I really didn't like was Vime's behaviour. I've never seen it from the outside before, and it didn't seem like him at all. And the Duchess' possession of our religious friend seemed slightly contrived, but not very much. That sort of thing happens

Also, I read Maskerade. I was getting a little hungry then, so I didn't appreciate it as much. Pity. Will re-read it later.

You can figure out the sort of things that happened. Or maybe I'm just used to books that are a bit scanty on back story and leave it up to the reader (part of that fun, moral ambiguity issue some authors have going).

I was surprised when I found a book that didn't have Vimes married to Sybil. I was like "but weren't they always....?"
