(Seriosity sounds better, but gets redlined. That's not fair.)

Why so little looting in Japan? It's not just about honesty.
An article from the 18th on the workers at the Fukushima nuclear plant.
An article on Turkey's underground hair museum.
An article on teaching preschoolers, and how not to do it.
A post on evolution and... well, it's hard to sum up.

There's a followup here.
Here is a quick post on emergency babywearing, using things you already have around the house. (Unless you're a BW'er, in which case you probably have carriers and the point is, hopefully, moot.)

Meanwhile, the preschooler article resonates a lot with me. I'm thinking back to law school and my practice now, and starting to notice this pretty consistent correlation between what I can do versus what causes me to shrink into a corner and say whatever it takes for the client to get the hell out of my office, and whether the prof and the lawyers I've spoken to have been enthusiastic about finding or listening to new solutions for things versus trying to keep the situation framed so that one can defer to some pre-established authority.
...and in other news the Ag Committee seems to want state control over the means of production while minimizing the people's ability to choose. COMMUNISM! D:
