The, uh, "hilarious" part about this is that this same clerk did the same shit last year. Let's see if he gets a third chance.

I keep finding myself reading your link text with "warned" as passive rather than active, which makes for a somewhat odder headline.

I think the "hilarious" part is that people feel the need to warn each other about hell. Like no one's ever heard of it before? I don't know anyone who hasn't heard of hell, only people (like me) who simply don't believe in it.

The clerk also abused a public position to gain access to government records to use them for his own personal reasons. That's a separate and also serious offense.

Think about it this way, what if he had had no issues with the person but had instead looked up her address and sent her a letter saying, I filed your name change at the DMV and thought you were really cute, want to go out?

That would be creepy as all hell too. It'd be stalking and wrong.

But even if he just sent her a happy New Year's Eve card that just said, "wishing you well" it would be deeply wrong. The fact that he harassed her is wrong and he should be held accountable for that crime. But the fact that he abused his position of authority to steal and abuse information is also wrong, and he should be held accountable for that as well.
