I don't normally eat raw beets or kiwi, but if I did I'd peel them. (I didn't know beets could be eaten raw, and I don't like kiwi.)

I do not peel kiwis; I quarter them. But I do not eat the peel. I peel bananas. I also quarter citrus fruits, but I rarely eat them because the acid causes me problems.

I sometimes peel potatoes and sometimes do not. I usually don't, because peeling is a lot of work.

I do not eat cucumbers intentionally because they taste bad. I doubt the peel matters.

I don't technically peel kiwis, though I don't eat the skin, either. I cut them in half and eat the insides with a spoon.

I have heard of people doing that. I decided it was weird. Thus you are weird. That's logic.

I really need to focus and stop being bored. I think I shall go make some tea.

Good point... but uh... I don't know how to peel tea :(

Well, umm... I mean I have tea bags and I have a tea pot. I could tear open a tea bag and use the tea pot. But I need to wash the tea pot, so I probably shouldn't.

My kiddo won't eat the peels of cuc's, so I'll peel them for her.

However, the peels are my favorite part (especially after a sweet pickling), so it all works out.

I only peel cukes I buy at the grocery story - the thick waxy coating freaks me out. When I grow 'em myself, there's no peeling involved.

Sorry if I'm intruding on your poll - I came over from [personal profile] coffeeandink's LJ to see the results of the poll, and wanted to add my voice to those that are surprised that people peel perfectly good fresh cucumbers.

I used to peel raw carrots, but have since gotten lazy about it. Plus, the ones from the farmers' market are often knobbly and annoying to peel, and the skins aren't tough at all, so it seems a shame to lose even that small bit of sweet flesh.

Sometimes I'll peel my cucumbers, other times I won't. It really depends on my mood. My MIL will peel stripes into her cucumbers before slicing them, for decorative purposes.

I peel supermarket cucumbers, because I don't like the taste of waxed peels; I don't peel Greenmarket (or coworker's garden) cukes.

I typically peel carrots before cooking them.

I also typically peel apples before cooking them. I don't eat raw apple.

I do, however, eat raw carrots.

I don't know for beets; I've only had them prepared by others.

Potato peeling is by breed. Russets, yes, Yukons, no. etc.

I don't eat eggplant.

Like the above, I don't so much peel kiwis as scoop them.

This. So I would never have to peel a cooked carrot because if it's been cooked, it's already been peeled.

My last attempt at peeling a kiwi was such an unmitigated failure that if I had to eat one in the foreseeable future I would just put up with the fuzz. D:

And while I understand why some really picky people would leave the stem and/or seeds behind, I still boggle at how people came up with the idea of an apple having a "core" that is not merely a slightly harder but nonetheless perfectly palatable part of the apple. o_O (EDIT: Heck, if anything the core strikes me as the most natural way to cleanse the palate after the starchy sweet part...)

Much easier way to eat a kiwi: cut it in half and eat the inside out with a spoon. Best of both worlds!

Sometimes yes, sometimes no. Depends on the cucumber, and the phase of the moon, and how I am serving it.

I peel almost nothing, and I eat kiwis with the peel on. Bite into 'em like an apple.

Also, while I do *peel* citrus fruits, I also eat the peel. I just eat it separately from the meat of the fruit.

Yes, but I don't peel them all the way - I take the potato peeler and make lengthwise stripes before slicing. This makes the slices fancier-looking and a bit easier to eat, especially for people who're still biting with their baby teeth. Such people often enjoy wielding the potato peeler themselves.

I cut kiwis in half and eat them with a spoon out of the skin; same with avocados, with a little salt.
