I really, really don't want blind people driving until the cars can fly. I cannot imagine there's a technology which will be able to work out whether a pedestrian's about to step into the road. We can't even get parking sensors right. It's one thing to be able to drive a car on a racetrack alone, but I doubt that it can deal with the unpredictability of real driving. I'm not able to drive through illness, so it's not as though I'm saying "blind people shouldn't have something I can have": I'm frustrated by my limitations, but I am not going to put myself in the position of being a danger on the roads just so that I can feel more positive. It all goes out of the window when you hit something or someone.
