First, thank you everybody for the well-wishing on my birthday :)

Second, I'm watching Psych. And they're visiting the Army base, and everybody is in fatigues and... why are the flags on their sleeves upside down? Are they supposed to look like that? Why?

I've been told that Hollywood is supposed to make deliberate mistakes on military uniforms, but have not confirmed that

You are correct (I asked the Garrison Commander during an awards ceremony lol).

Flag code says that in a procession or on something that moves, the field of stars should be on the forward end so it looks like the flag would be held by the wearer and flying behind him. Since military uniforms have the flag on the right sleeve, forward means on the right side of the flag as you look at it from the side. You see the same thing on the right side of an airplane.

Wasn't it ACUs, not fatigues? (ACUs are what Daniel is wearing in my Icon.)

OK, did it look like this (http://www.militaryhq.com/ProdImages/acu-pic04.jpg) or this (http://wardsurvival.files.wordpress.com/2008/08/woodland_bdu3.jpg)? The first is ACU's and neither fatigues or camo-print. Both of those terms refer to the second pattern (and its various incarnations in other color schemes). The oft-used other term for ACU's is "Digi's" or "Digitals". :)

Yeah but you always tend to remember the nitpicky bits. :-p You're getting old.
