Unfortunately, now I have no grounds to complain because I didn't call them since finding out about this. And now I'm angry at Obama for celebrating about this. This is NOT what I was thinking of when I thought of "healthcare available for everyone."
Oh, that teenage girl who was raped will just have to use the support of her poverty-stricken family to carry the baby to term, no matter what it might do for her health or circumstances. ...and other women who are in circumstances where abortion really is the best option, and they can't afford it.
I really hope this also doesn't hurt Planned Parenthood and similar services if it passes.
Huh?? Before this was approved, she would have had to do the same exact thing. Its not like they are taking away the right to have an abortion, they're just not making it free, they're keeping it exactly the same as it was before.
I just don't get the big uproar. Sure, maybe everyone would have liked abortion to be free, but, well, its not changed. Its really just NOT that big of a deal, people.
I wasn't aware (non medically required) abortion was covered under any insurance in the first place.
And, my personal opinion is that it shouldn't be. Medical insurance shouldn't cover elective unnecessary surgery/medical procedures (like, say, mine doesn't cover Lasik, for instance. Nor that tummy tuck I would really really really like!).
