And now for something a little more serious. I don't want to be rude, but recently several people have commented whom I couldn't immediately identify. Not spammers - gosh, I can deal with *them* - but I feel awkward! Do I know you? Do I not know you, but you found me here or there? I don't know!

Even if you think I ought to know you (your username is very similar to your username elsewhere, say), that doesn't mean I know that. It can take me a while to figure out that the same person posting on several different sites is not several different people. I don't know, I can be slow that way.

So I'm actively asking anybody who has been reading (and/or commenting) for a while to step up and actively introduce yourselves. If you don't want to, please just give a minor blurb (you can make it up, I'm seriously not checking references) when you first comment, as in "I'm so-and-so" or "I found you when you commented here/I googled this". I'll just feel vaguely better.

Thanks so much!

And to the pizza boy: You try walking off with seven dollars in MY CHANGE again and I won't give you any tip. Even if you think you deserve it, you're supposed to ask.

You know me, right?

*scratches head thoughtfully*

I believe we met through Battlestar Galactica fandom, here on LJ, but I can't quite remember now. Anyway, me? mom to two, historian, Canadian and fangirl. Interested in ASD issues since my younger daughter's on the spectrum.

Hi. I clicked over from P101 because I like what you have to say. I've stayed because the content you post interests me.

I'm the mom of a 4 1/2 year old girl, step mother to 19 year old twins, I've got severe ADHD and seem to like a lot of the same books, TV and movies that you do.

I'm another who came over from p101. For some reason though, I mentally associate you with the Sith Academy fandom (please don't be offended if it's not you, maybe your name reminds me of someone from there).
I've got a just over one year old, and a husband whose mother insists he's on the spectrum. (She's a special ed. teacher and "diagnoses" everyone. So incredibly frustrating.) As for me, I'm getting a master's in creative writing, and thinking about library school, and am a huge dork of dorky geekness. But I'm sort of awesome anyway.

I added you after our exchange about rape profiling over at Shadesong's journal.

As to the change thing - NUMBER ONE PET PEEVE in restaurants!

I wandered over from [livejournal.com profile] rainbow_goddess's journal, looking for adults on the spectrum so I could try and understand my teenaged son better. I"ve since found you interesting in your own right, and stuck around.

No, you haven't, but thus far, what questions I've asked have been ones you've been able to answer.

That's why yours is not the only opinion or perspective I'm watching and learning from. A lot of things you do or require are not things that would help Colin, but sometimes reading your journal, Rainbow's, and a few other people's journals, I can get close enough that he can tell me enough to fine-tune things :)

You have been and are being very helpful, and I thank you for it :)

You may still remember me? Joey from ye olde days of Neocolours. I've stuck around because you write cool stuff.

Well, in our case we are several different people, but we try to either sign our comments or use named icons so you can tell who it is.

I've been following you for years, now that I think about it, but I'm pretty sure you don't know me. I believe I found your journal via Clara ([livejournal.com profile] feathered) - maybe you left interesting comments in her lj and I was curious or something; I'm not sure. I read your journal because you post lots of interesting and informative stuff.

Hi. I found you through [livejournal.com profile] linguaphiles and [livejournal.com profile] ozarque, I think. I added you because you say interesting things and you don't have your head screwed on wrong about language and other stuff. :)

My name's Austin, and I don't remember exactly where I first saw you post, but I remember that something you said annoyed me enough that I looked at your profile to read about you.

And then I read the part about you being slightly autistic and occasionally offending people without meaning to and I instantly made up my mind that I thought you were neat and wanted to be your friend.

And thus far, it's been a very rewarding experience.

I don't recall exactly how I found you -- it was a few years ago-- but I remember looking at your profile and seeing a number of shared interests, and reading a few pages of your journal and thinking your posts were interesting. So I friended you.

Neopets from long, long ago, and you seemed then (and still do!) to be a funny, interesting person who always finds interesting links. I don't post much or reply much, usually busy with work or life, but I still enjoy reading the posts :)

I'm Leora. Since you know me through LJ and Support and not through real life, I feel like my username on LJ is the best ID you have for me. I suspect you know this, and I'm not sure what you'd want me to say about myself. But you can always ask me questions if you want to. And here are some random answers, just in case you want some: yes, no, mu, 42, to make room for the tuna, none because you pick cucumbers and then pickle them, coconut juice, and only on days that end in y.

I'm Philip. I originally met you through Support, but I stayed because of the interesting articles you post and the 'cdotes.

I live in Germany with my wife and my five-year-old daughter. I'm a software developer by profession.

She is if you count body height!

At the last measurement, she was only 99 cm, not even a metre. (About 39 inches, or 3'3".)

And the most recent userpic of her is currently a year old.

But yes, she just turned five last Sunday.

Hi. I'm most of the Diatrymas online, but not all of them (I've never met another one, I don't think). I started reading your Livejournal because of something on whatwasthatbook, though the groundwork was that you kept showing up places and I recognized your icon. I'm twenty-five, not a parent, just out of school, jobhunting, whining/figuring out stuff, and I help staff the Alpha Young Writer's Workshop, which is great fun. I have a cat, Patina the Catina (rhymes more with Mackinac than Christina). I grew up a weird kid.

Also, do you read Anti-Racist Parent? I could have sworn I'd seen a link to them here, but I don't remember.
