So.... we saw Mo Willems today! AAAAAAAAA!

He read two books, Naked Mole Rat Gets Dressed and Do You Want To Play Outside?, and answered questions from the audience, and then... signed our books we bought! (We got Do You Want To Play Outside? and another E&P book, the first one we ever read, I Am Invited To A Party!)
When the niecelings went up to get theirs signed he asked their names, then went back and forth and back and forth "Ana? Eva? Ana? Eva? Mo?", tricking Ana into pointing to the wrong person there. Hee.
So they were pretty happy, and we ate on the boat (hamburgers and broccoli), and we had brownies and soymilk and juice as treats (I figured that this was an unusual excursion, we might as well live it up. Plus, the wind was killer right off the boat and if we hadn't entered the Au Bon Pain we would never have survived our trek to the train), and - wow!
Plus we managed to catch the 7:00 boat, which was pretty nifty.
I'm totally doing this again, guys. Ana was quite excited and apparently talked all about it to her teacher. When told this I was shocked - there's no way that girl was more excited than me! NO WAY. All this talk cemented the guy's name in her head (she knew he wrote so many of our favorite books, but not his name) so she was able to announce it to everybody on a microphone when she raised her hand at the reading. Awesome.
Yup, definitely showing up for the next one, whenever that is.
BTW, getting a new bookcase this weekend or the next. We've officially filled this one up. Don't tell Jenn - if I sneak it up there during the day it'll be too late for her to complain :P

Date: 2009-01-09 05:33 am (UTC)Lately the only pigeon book the padawan wants me to read is "Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus." If I try to read the others, he refuses. But at some point I'm sure he'll get back into the others. He sure does love "Bus," and makes me read it over and over and over again.

Date: 2009-01-09 05:36 am (UTC)the kids love all of Mo Willems' books. Maylie reads the E&P books in the car on the way home from the library (I think we've taken all of those books out now) and the kids both roll with laughter over every page.

Date: 2009-01-09 05:42 am (UTC)Jenn and I were talking, we really need some E&P icons. Like... one or two for each page of each book.
