Being Christmas, I was starting to have a real craving for good marzipan.

Haven't had any (any worth eating) in ages and ages, and finally I said "Screw it, I'll take Evangeline and run into Brooklyn and stop by Alba's and just pick some up and get home in time to get Ana from school. Maybe."

In order to speed this process I actually looked up Alba's to see where they are (no use getting lost!) and found out... wait for it...

They sold the business three years ago and relocated with to Hylan Boulevard.

Huh.

Well! That's certainly a lot closer to me! I'm gonna have marzipan over Christmas, I'm gonna have marzipan over Christmas! Yay me!

Oh, now that is a fabulous idea. Does your marzipan of choice have a brand, that I might find it up here? I've never bought marzipan for myself before -- I've always had someone else do it :) -- and I don't know which is the good stuff from the packaging.

I find prepackaged marzipan to be stale, in general. That's why I was prepared to trek into Brooklyn, because theirs, if it isn't fresh made, at least *acts* fresh made. I haven't had any I really liked in, literally, a decade and a half, since we moved :(

But their website indicates that they ship nationwide, so if it's as good as I remember I'll be sure to update and tell you :)

I wonder if they still have ices in the summer... (Theirs was, beyond a doubt, THE BEST. Lemon with real chunks of lemon, that sort of thing. We'd bring it home with dry ice and all.)
