The niecelings came running downstairs to announce to us that there was a PIGEON and it SCARED them! Then they turned and pointed to the pigeon in the kitchen, at which point I asked my mom to see if they were telling the truth.

Yup.

The girls had great fun screaming (Evangeline actually clapped both hands on her cheeks, seriously), and then ran to... my room, apparently, where they Are Not Allowed.

My mom and I opened windows. Poor pigeon went for the wrong window, but, learning from the mistake, checked out the second window *very thoroughly* before flying through it.

This is what passes for excitement in my life. Pigeons.

Aw, well, I like pigeons.

I had a pigeon once for about a week. We caught it in a parking lot and kept it in a bird cage until we were able to trace the number on its leg band back to an owner. It was really nice, quiet, and pleasant to have as a pet (compared to the parrots, who would bite and make loud noises when they got bored) and if I had a larger cage, I wouldn't mind having another pigeon at some point in the future.
